Research interests

Dr Belleville’s research aims to advance knowledge about how cognitive reserve and brain plasticity prevent or delay neurodegenerative diseases in aging. She also works towards developing training programs to increase resilience.

Hence, Dr Belleville’s work contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms which allow some people to better resist the effects of aging, as well as the individual characteristics that make some people more responsive to cognitive training.

Moreover, she is developing strategies to make cognitive training programs accessible to most Canadians, using new technologies (such as virtual reality or online platforms).

Finally, she has also developed a major research program to better characterize the early stages of this disease.
