The University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow PDF) with particular interests in the role of social relationships and motivational processes for health and wellbeing in old age. The successful candidate will work on interdisciplinary projects led by Dr. Christiane Hoppmann focusing on social resources for everyday health behaviours and emotion regulation in older dyads.
Project and Responsibilities The main role of this PDF position is to contribute to a Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant-funded project on social-cognitive predictors of everyday health behaviors in older dyads. The successful candidate will focus on: 1) contributing to project implementation; 2) leading teamwork; 3) mentoring students; and 4) engaging in the dissemination of findings. The candidate will be supported to actively work on their publication record and present findings at international conferences. They will also have opportunities to expand their learning and networking through the UBC Health Psychology Cluster, the UBC-Okanagan Aging in Place Excellence Cluster, and the UBC Aging Program.
Qualifications and Experience A Ph.D. in Psychology or Human Development, health psychological interests, and a strong quantitative background. Ability to work collaboratively and independently with excellent problem solving and communication skills. Experience working with older adults. Strong writing skills, including experience publishing academic journal articles and conference proceedings.
The position is for one year, renewable for a second year.
Preferred start dates are April-May, 2023.
The salary is $55,000 per year plus benefits.
