Dr. Alexander Moreno, Ph.D. Neuropsychologist / Psychologist, Clinical Researcher at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM), Director of the « Innovation, Technology and Cognition (INTECOG) laboratory », and Adjunct Professor in the epartment of Psychology at the University of Montreal is looking for a student in the field of psychology or sexology, with a research interest in sexual orientation, gender diversity, and disability. The student, under the supervision of the principal investigator, will be part of the research team and will work on a research project funded by the Office des personnes handicapées du Québec on the barriers to social participation of person with a disability that identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual ndividuals and people with other sexual orientations and forms of gender expression (PDLGBTQIA+).
By participating in the current research project, the student will have the
opportunity to acquire quantitative and qualitative research expertise, in addition to contributing to the formulation of recommendations to the Quebec government aiming to have positive concrete impacts on the social participation of PD-LGBTQIA+. It is expected that the student will actively participate in the scientific life of CRIUGM, as well as in the various stages of research including the writing of research protocols and the submission to the research and ethics board, data collection and analysis, and presentations at scientific events. The student will also participate in other clinical projects conducted by the principal investigator.
Research project:
The objective of this project is threefold:
1. To conduct a review of scientific literature on the social participation of PDLGBTQIA+ people.
2. To document the obstacles encountered and the facilitators in place or to be developed to promote the social participation of PD-LGBTQIA+ people in their studies, employment, and access to health services, government and community services.
3. To make recommendations to the Government of Quebec with innovative and realistic suggestions likely to have positive concrete impacts on the social participation of PD-LGBTQIA+ people to reduce their barriers.
