The CRIUGM announces the next Montreal edition of Brainhack Global 2021 which will take place from December 6 to 10!
1. What is a Brainhack?
Brainhacks are educational hackathons that bring researchers together from a variety of disciplines (e.g., neuroscience, psychology, engineering) and career levels (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, research staff) to collaborate on participant-led projects and ideas and share open science-oriented technical skills.
Rather than your ‘typical’ competitive hackathon, Brainhacks aim to be actively inclusive and radically collaborative. To that end, attendees don’t need to have coding expertise or prior hackathon experience: everyone is welcome!
All you need to do is bring your excitement to contribute and share ideas in whatever way works for you.

2. What will the event look like/how do I register?
Brainhack Montreal 2021 will have a hybrid format, with a limited capacity in-person space available at the Centre de recherche institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM) amphitheater for coffee and snacks every morning, and as a free hacking/meeting spot for the rest of the day. The current schedule can be found on our event website here.
Registration for the event is open now; to ensure we can accommodate attendees wishing to participate in person, please register as soon as possible if you plan to use the in-person hacking space!
To stay up-to-date on Brainhack Montreal news or connect with fellow participants, join the chat on our Mattermost channel #brainhack-mtl!
NOTE:
Please sign up for Mattermost with a non-institutional email to ensure the registration confirmation email is not blocked by your school’s system!
3. How do I submit or join a Brainhack project?
Instructions for submitting new hackathon projects and info on existing projects you can join can be found on the Brainhack Global 2021 website here (all projects are managed centrally, even if you are attending the Montreal event). Please register for Brainhack Montreal before submitting a project!
To Know :
We encourage you to submit project proposals before December 1;
Live project pitches will then take place on the first day of Brainhack Montreal (Dec 6) so that participants who have not yet joined a project can do so!
