Biography

Alexa Pichet Binette is an assistant professor at the CRIUGM (Centre de Recherche de l’Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal) and the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of Université de Montreal since the fall of 2024. She obtained her PhD in neuroscience at McGill University and completed her postdoctoral training at Lund University in Sweden.

Dr. Pichet Binette is part of the scientific team of the Quebec Consortium for Early Identification of Alzheimer’s Disease (CIMA-Q) and is also affiliated with the BioFINDER research group at Lund University. She is a member of the scientific program committee of the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference and the executive committee of the Neuroimaging Professional Interest Area.

Research interests

Her research aims to better understand aging and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, with the goal of preventing or slowing its progression. To this end, her laboratory employs multimodal approaches to biomarker analysis, integrating various types of neuroimaging techniques (PET and MRI), blood markers, and proteomics in cohorts of participants and patients locally and internationally. Her laboratory is funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the IUGM Foundation.

At the CRIUGM, she works closely with the memory clinics, aiming to bridge clinical research and practice, and to improve access to advanced biomarkers to help establish more accurate diagnoses and improve treatment plans.

Dr. Pichet Binette’s laboratory is recruiting master’s or PhD students and postdoctoral fellows! Feel free to send your CV and a cover letter by email.
