Congratulations to Sylvie Belleville, researcher at the CRIUGM and full professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université de Montréal, who was awarded the Léo-Pariseau Prize on December 8, 2021, during the annual Acfas Gala in honour of her exceptional contribution to the field of neuropsychology of dementia. In particular, she and her team have demonstrated that cognitive exercises performed by people with an early stage of Alzheimer’s disease succeeded in activating alternative brain areas that take over from deteriorated memory areas.
Since 1944, Acfas has awarded the Léo Pariseau Prize to a researcher working in the field of biological or health sciences. Léo Pariseau was the first president of Acfas and a pioneer in the field of radiology.
