Biography
Dr. Marie-Andrée Bruneau, MD, MSc, FRCPC, is a clinical full professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Addictology at Université de Montréal. she obtained her medical degree and MSc in biomedical sciences from Université de Montréal, followed by residency training in psychiatry at McGill University and subspecialty certification in geriatric psychiatry in 2013 and acted as a geriatric psychiatrist with over two decades of experience,
Dr. Bruneau has contributed extensively to the advancement of care and knowledge related to the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Her academic and clinical career has included numerous appointments in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and university teaching roles. She is a recognized leader in the development of innovative clinical practices, notably through telepsychiatry, interdisciplinary care, and digital tools for training healthcare workers and supporting caregivers.
She has received research funding from national and provincial agencies including the CIHR, FRQS, CRIUGM, RQRV, CAREC, and CCNA. Over the past ten years, she has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed, competitively funded research projects, several of which she led as principal investigator. Her work has resulted in practical tools, such as a web-based training platform on BPSD (capsulesscpd.ca), widely used across Quebec, and knowledge transfer initiatives targeting both healthcare professionals and the public.

Dr. Bruneau’s research program bridges clinical psychiatry, aging, and innovation, with a strong emphasis on applied research and patient-centered care in older adults. Her main research areas include:
