Biography

Dr. François Aubry holds doctorates in sociology from the Université de Franche-Comté (France) and in gerontology from the Université de Sherbrooke (Quebec). He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST). Dr. Aubry also served as an institutional researcher for two years at two university-affiliated centers in Estrie and Montreal. Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Social Work at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

Research interests

  • Analysis of professional practices of beneficiary attendants and health and social services auxiliaries.

  • Management (retention, occupational health and safety, etc.) and social issues (gender, age, ethnicization) related to the practices of attendants and auxiliaries.

  • Studies on the organization of long-term care facilities (CHSLDs) and other types of housing resources for seniors (private residences for the elderly, intermediate resources) and support services for seniors (EESAD, community organizations, consultation tables).
