Biography

Dr. Louise Demers is a Full Professor in the School of Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, at the Université de Montréal, and a researcher at the Research Centre of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM). Trained as an occupational therapist, she holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Rehabilitation option) and a postdoctoral fellowship in Epidemiology from McGill University. She has held several academic leadership positions, including Associate Vice-Dean of Health Sciences. Her career has been marked by a strong commitment to developing evaluation tools, improving rehabilitation services, and supporting caregivers.

Research interests

Her interdisciplinary and pragmatic research focuses on the use and evaluation of assistive technologies, homecare programs, the impact of interventions on the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers, and the transfer of research findings into clinical settings. She has contributed to several large-scale projects under the AGE-WELL network and through CIHR and SSHRC grants, aiming to develop technological and organizational solutions to support aging in place.
