Biography
Patricia Belchior is an occupational therapist and holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Florida, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cognitive aging. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at McGill University and a lab director at the CRIUGM where she is responsible for the social innovation theme.
Research interests
Her research program aims to promote aging well in the community, with a particular focus on older adults living with neurocognitive conditions and their families. She explores the development of occupation-based programs, the use of technology to support aging in place, and the impact of age-related stigma. She has a growing interest in participatory approaches to better align her research with what truly matters to the community, while promoting the role of occupational therapy in community-based strategies.

She leads several community-based initiatives aimed at building a more inclusive society for older adults. She also the co-investigator of large-scale, interdisciplinary projects involving intersectoral living labs and innovative technologies to support aging in place.
