Research interests
His research focuses on artificial intelligence applied to health, particularly the development of machine learning algorithms to analyze heterogeneous data (physiological, behavioral, social). He investigates activity recognition, detection of cognitive impairment, mental health monitoring, and social participation among older adults. He has also led projects on talent management, smart environments, and sensor-based solutions for dementia-related agitation and incontinence.
His work is funded by NSERC, FRQSC, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, and the Quebec government. He emphasizes technological transfer, open-access publication, and the integration of innovations into real-world applications (e.g., mobile apps, interactive platforms, recommender systems). He has supervised numerous students at all academic levels, often through international co-supervision.
