Biography

Dr Marie-Jeanne Kergoat graduated from Medical School at Université de Sherbrooke in 1978, completed her family medicine residency at Université de Montréal in 1980. She completed a fellowship in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow (Scotland) and Hôpital Régional de Nancy-Brabois and, at the Université de Nancy (France) in 1986. She is full Professor and Director of Geriatric training program, Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal. She is a geriatrician and heads the Department of Specialized Medicine and is the founder and director of Memory Clinic at Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM). She is a member of the Research Centre at IUGM.

Research interests

Dr Kergoat current research, academic and clinical interests include clinical and health outcomes in older people in the areas of frailty, geriatric syndromes and improvement of health care services; nutritional problems among elderly individuals with cognitive deficits; and determinants of successful aging.
